Elysian - Coming May 4, 2021
Kary's about to find out they're all real.
And she's one of them.
Kary thought she was a normal human girl. She didn't think anything strange about the clichéd way her adoptive parents found her on their doorstep one night. That is, until she meets someone (something?) that shows her otherwise and she begins having visions of past lives. Visions that look a lot like the myths she never believed in and reveal that everything bad that's been happening, is her fault to begin with.

A Conversation with Rebecca Queen
Did you ever consider writing under a pseudonym?
Uhh.. let’s just say I’ve never used my real name online or publicly.
What inspired you to be an author?
I never really had the aspiration to be an author. I just had the idea for a story that I started writing, and before I knew it… it was book. Truly, I still can’t believe it.
Do you share any characteristics with your main character?
There’s actually a really funny story here because Elysian was born from a role-playing type game between me and a couple girls I met online. We were ten, maybe eleven at the time and we started writing stories as these alter ego version of ourselves. Kary is the character I created of who I wanted to be, and growing up I guess she was my role model. Hopefully she can be that for other young girls as well.
Do you write listening to music? If so, what music inspired or accompanied this current book?
Yeah, I have a couple writing playlists but I tend to put one song on repeat if it really embodies the scene or the emotions in that scene. One that was on constant replay while writing Elysian was Camila Cabello’s Bad Kind of Butterflies.
What is your writing Kryptonite?
What advice would you give a new writer just starting out?
Write and don’t stop writing. Even when you think what you’re writing sucks, don’t stop and keep writing. I honestly didn’t know I could write a book until I had a finished manuscript in front of me. And let me tell you when went back to read it the first time, I cringed. It needed a lot of editing. But there was a book!
Are you on Social Media and can your readers interact with you?
What is the one thing you want your readers to take away from this book?
Always be a badass.
