Naoki Murdock grew up in Okinawa, Japan. He attended both Japanese schools as well as American schools within a military base. Naoki grew up with mostly 90’s anime and cartoons. Sometimes, though, modern American animations like Phineas & Ferb or Frozen would show in Japan dubbed into Japanese. Naoki's love of cartoons and animation continues today. Currently he is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in animation, working with 3D and 2D animation and create his work digitally in Photoshop, Blender, and IbisPaint X. He typically begins his work traditionally by drafting with paper and pencil, and then digitally.

"The past 3 years I’ve been able to see so many cool and new animated films and shows, and it feels like the art world has shifted stylistically from the 90’s style. I prefer using the sharp angles and exaggerated geometry of 90’s cartoons and blending it with the modern styles that use thinner line art and rounded edges, but still have some anime style influence."
